Summary Installs and repairs audio visual equipment by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Reviews work orders to move, change, install, repair, or remove control boards, projectors, switchers, plasmas, LCD equipment.
- Reads technical manuals to learn correct settings for equipment; occasionally communicates with manufacturer
- Disassembles, inspects and tests equipment to locate and repair problem.
- Interface with customers to help remedy problems; frequently occurs onsite.
- Tests equipment to ensure that specifications are met.
- Enters commands into computer to test equipment.
- Reads messages on computer screen to verify that data is being transmitted between locations according to specifications.
- Demonstrates use of equipment.
- Measures, cuts, and installs wires and cables.
- Terminates wires or cables

Education and/or Experience
Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
